Residency Programs

Interns and residents of the Warren Alpert Medical School Residency Training Programs are integral members of the Brown University and the Brown University Health community.

Training in internal medicine covers the broad range of patient care from general internal medicine to highly technical subspecialties. All clinicians must be well-informed about advanced technology in order to render high quality care. Likewise, a highly specialized consultant needs a solid foundation in the basic concepts of general internal medicine to properly care for patients. Our residencies in Internal Medicine encompass this broad spectrum and our faculty strives to provide education which prepares its graduates for a wide variety of professional careers.

We offer 6 fully accredited Internal Medicine residency training programs at the Rhode Island Hospital, The Miriam Hospital and the Providence Veterans Administration Medical Center in Providence, Rhode Island.

Residents from all six tracks share resources, faculty and rotations at all hospitals and ambulatory facilities. The multi-institutional training program provides trainees with several distinct, diverse populations of patients, training environments and complementary cultures.

Interns and residents of the Warren Alpert Medical School Residency Training Programs are integral members of the Brown University and the Brown University Health community.
